About The Speaker
John Paul (Juan Pablo) “JP” Ortiz is a writer, conservationist, eco-entrepreneur, and futurist. He applies these experiences to his own dream and life project of building a sustainable retreat center in Costa Rica. He writes the blog “The Wall Green Journal”, a regenerative lifestyle publication on LinkedIn which discusses themes of sustainability, permaculture, and green entrepreneurship.
JP is passionate about equity, creative impact, and our relationship with nature and the environment. Since 2019, he has been on the Advisory Council for Next Generation Men & Women, an Atlanta non-profit whose mission is to provide learning and exposure support for under-resourced high school youth.
Recently transitioned from his corporate life, JP worked in Enterprise Sales for Microsoft Corporation where he led and developed modernization strategies for some of the world’s biggest brands. He served customers in the U.S. Education business as the sales leader for Microsoft Surface computers and hardware.
In April 2023, he led and co-created Avanzar ATL, a day-long learning conference for Latino young professionals and allies that was attended by over 100 people and community partners in its first year. He is a recent graduate of the New Leaders Council Class of 2023 and completed the Colorwave Fellowship this past spring.
JP attended Goizueta Business School for his MBA (2018) and completed his undergraduate studies at Colgate University in Hamilton, NY. He lives in Decatur with his wife, Emily, a current J.D./M.Div student at Emory University and their beagle, Hamilton.
